About Le Chef’s Wife

Le Chef's Wife

A practical guide to living a French Riviera Inspired Life

I invite you to follow along for helpful tips on how to live a French Riviera Inspired life, wherever you are. The French Riviera is a mindset, une manière d’être, more than just a destination. In my experience, it is about living each day as if it was that perfect summer day that you never want to end. Sun kissed, deliciously slow and luxurious with soupçon of glamor.

ABOUT LE CHEF’S WIFE

Bonjour! My name is Anina Belle Giannini. I am a Canadian/American girl who grew up in the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia and went to Nice, France on a study exchange and fell in love with a French Chef. I have always been enamoured with the culture of the South of France, thanks to discovering Peter Mayle’s books as a teenager. It is the 8 years that Le Chef and I spent living in Nice and Antibes that gave me a passion for keeping the warmth and joie de vivre of the French Riviera with me, wherever we are. Le Chef and I built our careers in luxury hotels which has allowed us to live and work in Monaco, Nice, Juan-les-Pins, Montreal, Québec & now Washington, DC. In October 2017 we were blessed with our daughter, Valentina Grace. Follow along as I discover motherhood and living life “à la Française” in the USA.

ABOUT LE CHEF
Le Chef Sébastien Giannini at the French Embassy in Washington, DC

Sébastien Giannini was born and raised in the South of France in the Port town of Toulon. Le Chef was inspired by watching his grandmother go to the market every day and cook extraordinary meals using fresh, local ingredients. At the age of 14 he started working in Michelin starred kitchens in Saint Tropez and then in Courchèvel at Le Kintessence. His first role as Chef de Cuisine was in a restaurant in Cannes and by 23 years old was the youngest Executive Chef of a 5 star hotel in France at L’Auberge de la Vignette Haute in Auribeau-sur-Siagne. Sébastien has held the position of Executive Chef at luxury hotels in 3 countries including at Le Meridien Nice, The Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, Montreal, The W Montreal, The St Regis DC, The Watergate DC and most recently, The Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC.

The #1 professional cooking tip I learned from @le The #1 professional cooking tip I learned from @lechefsebastien that makes me a better home cook. “La mise en place” is the act of preparing all of your ingredients in advance, ready to cook, before you turn on the heat. When there are multiple distractions (children, dogs, life...) cooking is much more pleasurable when you are not worried about burning the onions because you forgot to cut the carrots...n’est ce pas? #cookinginfrench #miseenplace #cookingtips #homecooking #chefstips
